About Burlington
Burlington, one of the nation’s “prettiest” cities according to Forbes Magazine, is located on Lake Champlain in Northwestern Vermont. The largest City in the state is home to 42, 417 residents as of the 2010 Census and the metro area expands to around 208,055 people which accounts for one third of the population of the state.
Burlington is just 45 miles from the Canadian border and 94 miles South of Montreal, QC Canada. Known for its green, safety and health initiatives, Burlington has been ranked #1 in overall health for the lowest rates of obesity, high amount of exercise and clean air. Children’s Health Magazine ranked the city as the best place to raise a family in the US.
The city has some of the lowest unemployment rates in the country and is supported mostly by health and education services. The largest employers are Fletcher Allen Health Care and the University of Vermont. Burlington is also home to Burton Snowboards, Dealer.com, Bruegger’s and Seventh Generation.
