Winston-Salem, located in North Central North Carolina in an area referred to as the Piedmont Triad can trace its roots all the way back to 1766. While it is the second largest city in the triad, it does host the largest office buildings in the downtown area. Winston-Salem, colloquially referred to as “the hyphen” is the 4th largest city in North Carolina with a population of approximately 229,000 at last count by the US Census in 2010.
While being known historically for the tobacco, furniture and textile industries, Winston-Salem has been making headway in the nano-tech and medical research fields of late. The advent of technology has not passed by Winston-Salem and the population is becoming one of the most educated in the United States.
